Arsenal new boss Unai Emery wants to strengthen his team and as per reports, he is looking to re-unite with Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

The Les Bleus midfielder has been linked with the north Londoners for a long time. Even former boss Arsene Wenger wanted to lure him in the winter transfer window (El Gol Digital).

Now, the latest developments suggest that Emery can finally secure the signing of N’Zonzi for the club.

Few days back, Mirror Sport reported that the Spanish manager wants to sign the highly rated defensive midfielder from the La Liga and Mislintat is prepared to sanction the deal for the Gunners.

More recently, it has been confirmed by Sevilla’s DOF Joaquín Caparrós (Diario de Sevilla) that Emery can agree the signing of the 29-year-old star by activating the release clause in his contract. He stated:

“If he (Emery) wants N’Zonzi, he will have to call and put the offer in. And the offer is the clause. If you put that offer in, then there are no more negotiations [over the fee].”

As per the provided El Gol Digital link, the former Blackburn Rovers player has got a release clause of 40 million euros (£35million) in his current contract with the Spanish side.

Last season he played 44 games in all competitions for Sevilla and his performances deservedly earned him a place in France’s World Cup squad. So far, he has only made 3 appearances for the senior national team.
