Real Madrid could make a surprise attempt to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford at the end of the campaign. The England international has transformed into a key performer for club and country this term contributing goals during crucial stage of games.
According to Don Balon, the European champions have set their sights on signing a new marksman at the end of the 2017/18 campaign. Experienced striker Karim Benzema only inked a fresh four-year contract earlier in the summer, but president Florentino Perez is said to be on the search for a genuine goalscoring threat up front.
Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has been underlined as the prime target to bolster the Los Blancos strikeforce next summer, but it is suggested that the club could move for Marcus Rashford under Cristiano Ronaldo’s recommendation.
Kane has been repeatedly linked with a switch away from the north London club, but his reluctance to switch clubs could turn Real’s interest to Rashford, who has qualities indicative of a world-class striker in the making.
The United graduate has primarily featured on the left side of the attack this term, but he showed his versatility during the tail-end of last season, where he played as the lone striker in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence through injury.
Rashford is presently on the lower scale of United’s wages at just £50,000 a week neglecting bonuses, and there is a suggestion that he could be rewarded with an improved contract as a gift on his 20th birthday at the end of the month.
The teenager has been preferred by Jose Mourinho ahead of Anthony Martial on the left wing, and he has not disappointed with six goals and four assists in all competitions. Rashford recently scored the winner in the 1-0 triumph over Benfica in a Champions League clash on Wednesday night.
