Chelsea quote their asking price for Belgian ace amid Real Madrid interest

Chelsea have reportedly placed a £100m price tag on the head of Eden Hazard amid the ongoing interest from Real Madrid, who are planning a mega-spending spree ahead of next season.

The Belgium international currently has 15 months left on his present deal with the Blues, and his reluctance to pen an extension has triggered concerns that he could part ways with the club.

According to The Independent, the west London giants are prepared to sanction his sale during the summer with Real Madrid having already begun negotiations with the representative of the former Lille graduate.

However, the attacker won’t come on the cheap with the FA Cup holders said to want at least £100m for the Belgian, who is currently enjoying his best-ever campaign in the Premier League with the Capital-based side.

Hazard has flirted with the prospect of joining the European champions over the past few seasons, and it now appears that the transfer could come to fruition amid the ongoing contract standoff with the Blues.

Still, Los Blancos may need to pay big to lure him from the clutches of the Blues, and they could be prepared to do so, considering Zinedine Zidane has remained a keen follower of Hazard, since his time at Lille.

Hazard has notched 14 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League for the Blues this term, and that has helped the club keep up with their nearest rivals in the race for the top four positions in the Premier League.

Next up, the Blues are scheduled to face West Ham United at Stamford Bridge, and the game remains a must-win, if they are to stay in the hunt for Champions League football next term through their domestic division.

Chelsea can of course qualify for the elite competition by winning the Europa League this term, but the task is not straightforward, given the likes of Arsenal, Napoli and Valencia could come in their way of the pursuit of the European crown.
