Gameweek 10 of the Premier League provided a few entertaining encounters with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea grabbing vital wins. Moreover, there was also entertainment at the bottom of the table with Stoke City among those benefiting with a positive result. Calcio Insider today looks into a couple of games which should have kept the neutral football fan excited.
Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur: The game’s momentum was probably shifted prior to the match after Spurs talisman Harry Kane was ruled out with a hamstring problem. In his absence, the north London club could not find a focal point in the attack, and this cost them dearly once more at Old Trafford. Mauricio Pochettino’s side appeared to be earning a well deserved 0-0 draw, but a lack of concentration late in the game allowed Anthony Martial capitalise on a well-directed Romelu Lukaku header to slot home the winner. Spurs have now failed to win back-to-back league games versus United since 1990 whilst their winless streak at Old Trafford has also extended to four matches.
Crystal Palace 2-2 West Ham United: Slaven Bilic’s side took a share of the spoils in the 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park, but the match could have paved differently had Joe Hart not turned up. The England international produced three spectacular saves in the game to keep the Palace attack at bay, although the Hammers should have clinched three points. Javier Hernandez and Andrew Ayew provided a comfortable first-half lead for the Hammers before Palace got one back via Luka Milivojevic penalty in the second period. With six minutes of injury time almost up, Michail Antonio recklessly lost possession, and this allowed Wilfried Zaha to blast his shot past Hart, who ended up with the man of the match accolade. Palace are still rooted to the bottom of the table, but more questions are likely to be asked of Bilic’s credentials at West Ham.
