Chelsea comfortably won the PL title in 2017 but last season, they finished 5th and failed to book a place in the next season’s Champions League.

The Blues desperately need to strengthen their squad and a top quality player is linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

According to El Gol Digital, Spanish international Marco Asensio is ready to leave Real Madrid. It is mentioned that big European clubs are interested in signing the attacker but he is closer to moving to England and specifically to Chelsea.

The Spanish source have further stated that the 22-year-old star is considering a move to sign for the Stamford Bridge club.

Asensio has won two Champions League titles with the Los Blancos so it is strange that he is considering a move to Chelsea, who will be playing in the Europa League in the next campaign.

Earlier this month, Diario Gol reported that the La Roja star is wanted by Liverpool, who value him around €100million.

In the presence of star players like Ronaldo, Isco, Benzema and Bale, the Spanish playmaker has mostly warmed the bench at the Bernabeu and things could get worse if Real sign Neymar. Therefore, he needs to leave for regular first team football.

Last season, he could only start 19 times in the La Liga for the Spanish giants, scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists. Last night, he made his World Cup debut against Iran as a second half substitute and featured for just 11 minutes.

Asensio’s know that his current deal with the European Champions will expire in 2023 and it has a huge release clause of £613million (The Mail).
