Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will reportedly have a £150m kitty to spend on fresh recruits during the summer transfer window. The long-standing manager recently inked a two-year extension with the north London club with the promise of achieving Premier League glory.
According to The Mail, the 67-year-old has received the sound backing of the club’s hierarchy as he looks to change the overall look of the squad ahead of the 2017/17 campaign.
The Gunners failed to clinch Champions League qualification for the first time in 20 years, but Wenger is confident that he can lure the best talents in the world with the promise of a significant pay.
As per The Mail, the north London club have formed a four-man shortlist including Kylian Mbappe, Riyad Mahrez, Kingsley Coman and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Wenger keen to make at least two marquee signings.
The FA Cup finalists have already wrapped up a Bosman move for Sead Kolasinac (Sky Sports) this summer, and they are now on the lookout for attacking recruit who could potentially influence the result in a particular game.
Arsenal are deemed to have lodged a world-record £95m offer in order to pursue the services of Mbappe while Riyad Mahrez is also on the Gunners radar with Arsene Wenger personally admitting that he holds an interest in the attacker.
Bundesliga pair Kingsley Coman and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are outsiders to make the Gunners squad, but the club are in a good position to match their valuations, should they be up for sale in the transfer market.
Meanwhile, Arsenal also look to have made significant strides towards signing young striker Henry Onyekuru after the player personally revealed that the club have tabled a transfer offer for his signature.
Arsenal will be featuring in the Europa League next season, and they will undoubtedly be among the favourites to clinch the competition following the success of fellow Premier League club Manchester United.
