AC Milan lining up audacious move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic

AC Milan are planning an ambitious attempt to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently recuperating from a long-term knee problem. The Sweden international enjoyed a successful spell with Manchester United last season where he amassed 28 goals across all competitions. Despite this, his season ended on a low note after he ruptured his knee ligaments during a Europa League quarter-final tie against Anderlecht in April.

The Red Devils have since released the big Swede from his contract, but they have not ruled out the possibility of re-signing him once he returns to full fitness. Ibrahimovic is currently training at United’s Carrington base, and he is expected to complete his full recovery by the end of November. According to Tuttosport, the Rossoneri are planning a potential attempt to lure him back to San Siro, where he spent five years of his professional career.

Ibrahimovic initially plyed his trade for Inter Milan between 2006 and 2009 where he won the Champions League crown under Jose Mourinho. He therein spent an unsuccessful year with Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona before linking up with AC Milan initially on a season-long loan. Ibrahimovic bagged 56 goals during his two-year spell with the Rossoneri whilst helping them to a Serie A and Cup double in the 2010-11 season.

The Rossoneri have since failed to come anywhere close to the Scudetto due to Juventus’ dominance, but they are hoping to end this run next term with the mass spending which has brought in as many as ten players including influential defender Leonardo Bonucci. At 36, many footballers would be hoping for a final payday before calling time on their careers, but Ibrahimovic looks fit enough to play until his 40s as per Mourinho.

The former Sweden international also has a lucrative offer from Los Angeles Galaxy to consider, but the opportunity to link up with a rejuvenated Milan could be a tempting prospect for the experienced marksman.
