€35million star very close to agreeing Liverpool move

Liverpool have been linked with Croatian international and Besiktas center half Domagoj Vida for quite some time and the latest reports seem positive for the Reds.

Few days back, Turkish source Fanatik reported that Liverpool have made an offer of €20million for the 29-year-old defender but the Turkish club want €35million for their star, who joined on a free transfer in the winter window.

Now, as per the latest update provided by Aksam, the Reds are very close to reaching a deal to sign the World Cup finalist. It is mentioned that the Merseysiders have made the most serious offer of 20 million pounds which could be enough to secure the deal but Besiktas want to talk with the player first.

The Turkish outlet have further mentioned that after negotiations between Vida’s manager and Liverpool, the transfer is expected to be closed.

Vida’s performance:

The former Dynamo Kyiv defender was impressive for the national side at the World Cup but unfortunately, he had to end the tournament with a silver medal. He scored one goal as well (against Russia in the quarter finals).

As far as his club campaign is concerned, he played 9 league games for the Ukrainian club in the first half of the season and scored 2 goals. In the second half of the season, he played 13 league games for Besiktas and scored 1 goal.

Liverpool’s current central defense:

Jurgen Klopp broke the club’s transfer record in the winter transfer window to sign Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk. The former Celtic center half has proved to be brilliant for the Reds. Dejan Lovren mainly partnered him in the second half of the last campaign.

The Reds have also got center backs like Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez. It will be fair to say that they lack quality depth in the department and therefore, Vida could be a top addition if the German boss can get his signing done.

  1. Vida did have a great World Cup but wasn’t the CB I expected Klopp to go after ?? I really expected Klopp to go after the CB that VVD had asked Klopp to go after and that was his international team mate De Ligt who is still a teenager but was willing to move on from Ajax for the right move and using VVD Klopp could have got one over the many other Clubs interested in De Ligt……. I understand Vida will cost around £20M and at 29 thought Klopp would have said doesn’t fit into his plan of Buying and building up a Young Squad !!!!

  2. The same De Ligt, who Barcelona have been told is not for sale, even for “insane money”? Seems like that door is firmly shut.

  3. People need to understand that signing a 29y old is about upgrading the reserve CB which will allow Klavan to return to Germany or allow Gomez to go out on loan for 12 months to play every week and at £20 less what comes back in sales say £5m its a great deal all around even better when you could get a loan fee of £2m + for Gomez and on that basis he is a very good signing if signed That doesn’t mean another CB wouldn’t be signed at some point as a first team player but that doesn’t have to be this window

  4. If the signing of Vida is really just a swap for Klavan which allows Klavan to leave then for £20M it’s a great Buy after seeing what he did at the World Cup but Klavan hasn’t done bad for us at all but just isn’t the Calibre of Defender we need if we are going to be challenging for titles etc but he came in handy when we had Injury problems in defence But it’s quite simple we just need an upgrade in Quality and an extra Defender or two including one at LB as still not sure about Moreno !! I also heard that Ajax said De Ligt wouldn’t be going anywhere even for silly money but we all know if a player wants to leave then the club can’t normally stop them but try to make as much as possible on the deal !!! The other CB that’s available and who Everton are trying to beat us to is Barcalona’s Yerry Mina who also looked really good at the World cup and Klopp enquired about so I’m hoping the Enquiry leads to an offer as Mina is very Physical with great Pace and at 6″4 or 6″5 is a massive talent at only 23 and with a price of around £25M to me Klopp needs to look at seriously again as Mina ideally wants Champions league football and as usual when a player of his quality becomes available for such a low price the Turkish Clubs become very very interested…
