Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen their midfield department in the summer transfer window and reports suggest that they are interested in signing Brazilian international Rafinha.
According to Sport, Mauricio Pochettino is a huge admirer of the Barcelona star and wants to secure him for Spurs to reinforce his midfield.
The 25-year-old star is a versatile midfielder, who can effectively play in the attack as well. Last season, he was loaned out to Inter Milan, who mainly used him in the attacking midfield.
Alcantara missed the entire first half of the campaign due to injury. After completing his loan move to Italy in January, he started 12 league games for the Nerazzurri, scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists.
As per Sport, after qualifying for the Champions League, the Serie A club are not willing to pay the required €35million to make his move permanent and that price is not really a bad one for Spurs.
Rafinha’s current contract with the Catalan giants will expire in 2020 and it has got a huge release clause of €75million (FC Barcelona). Spurs lack depth in their midfield and someone like Rafinha will be a quality signing for them.
So far, the South American midfielder has made 2 appearances for the senior national side and scored 1 goal. His brother, Thiago Alcantara, plays for Bayern Muncih and he is going to the World Cup with Spain’s national team.
