Liverpool have already secured the signings of two top quality midfielders in the form of Keita and Fabinho. The duo should officially move to Anfield on July 1.
As per information exclusively obtained by Calcio Insider, another top quality central midfielder is interested in playing for Liverpool. The player in discussion is Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso.
Last year, the German champions broke their transfer record to sign the Les Bleus star for €41.5million, which made him the most expensive player in the Bundesliga history (The Guardian).
The 23-year-old French international had a fantastic first season with Bayern. In 40 appearances (all competitions), he directly contributed in 17 goals and deservedly earned a place in France’s World Cup squad. He started in the center of the park with Kante and Pogba against Australia.
A source close to the player in Munich has told Calcio Insider that Tolisso’s dream is to play for Liverpool. He said:
“Tolisso wants Premier League (move) and dream (is) Liverpool”
The statement made by the source could be concrete taking into consideration that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is Tolisso’s inspiration. Back in December 2017, Onze Mondial did a comprehensive exclusive interview with the player and he said:
“For me, it’s (Bundesliga) a very good championship. But the best is the Premier League. There, there is more spectacle and competition.”
Speaking about his inspiration for his role in the midfield, Tolisso claimed:
“I like the long game, the passes between two opponents, the passes behind the defense. It’s beautiful stuff too I think. I’m not going to say that because otherwise people will say “He compares to Gerrard”, but I like the passes that Gerrard made”
“Steven Gerrard is someone who knew how to do everything. He could score, defend. You could see him everywhere.”
As mentioned above, Keita and Fabinho are set to join Liverpool soon, therefore, Klopp does not need another central midfielder. The German manager must act fast to sign a top player, who has the quality to replace Coutinho at Anfield.
